Icarus Phoenix, a dynamic indie folk and indie rock band from Baltimore, MD, is ready to take the music world by storm with their highly anticipated fourth album, I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said. The band’s upcoming album, I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said, is slated for release on August 15. Drew Danburry penned the album between 2021 and 2022, inspired by a tumultuous divorce and a cross-country move. The album’s production, completed at June Audio in Provo, Utah with producer Jed Jones, is nothing short of a labour of love. The band recorded 40 tracks in just three days, with contributions from talented friends such as Jake Bellows, Justin Pacheco, and Andrew Young. The additional sounds by Chaz Prymek and Rocky Cordray further elevate the album’s depth and texture, making it a complex yet accessible listening experience.
Songs like “The Things You Never Told Me” encapsulate the emotional intensity and cathartic release that fans crave. “Major life changes reveal our true selves. Writing these songs helped me process a tough breakup and the challenges of co-parenting with someone trying to exclude me from my son’s life,” says Drew Danburry. This raw honesty makes the album profoundly relatable, capturing the essence of North American culture and universal human experiences. “I hope others can relate to and understand their struggles through these songs,” Drew adds, emphasizing the album’s underlying message of resilience and growth.
