This Band From Bristol Has Released A Holiday Song Promising To Spread Cheer And Goodwill

On Friday, 22nd November 2024, England’s Bristol-based Indie Melodic Pop Rock band, Chandra, unveiled their latest single, “Christmas Hugs”. This festive release is a delightful feast for the ears, brimming with joy, good vibes, and melodies that stick with you long after the song has ended. Following their August release of the 6-track “Lifted” EP, Chandra returns with “Christmas Hugs,” embedding their signature cheeky, melody-driven Pop Rock sound with festive cheer and nostalgic nods to Christmas classics.

Chandra’s ability to fuse their Indie Melodic Pop Rock flavour with unashamed festive sizzle truly sets them apart in the holiday music scene. The band’s frontman, Chandra Nair, conveys a heartfelt message in the song, expressing his adoration for the unique atmosphere Christmas brings.

Nair explains, “My favourite thing about Christmas is the swell of joy and goodwill that spreads like a virus as soon as Halloween ends and runs all the way through to New Year’s Eve. It’s as if people give themselves permission to be more friendly, more charitable and more forgiving than they ever would be at any other time of year. We wanted to write a song that celebrates this wonderful transformation of the human spirit but also a song that acts like a great big Christmas hug in, and of, itself.”

The track “Christmas Hugs” showcases the band’s consistent knack for creating vibrant, melody-rich tracks, co-produced by Chandra and long-time collaborator Aaron Shawt. Known for his work with Smile (No Fox Gibbon) and Pretty, Shawt helps bring that polished edge to their sound, reminiscent of the best in Alternative Rock and Power Pop genres, akin to artists like The 1975 and Two Door Cinema Club.

With cover art designed by the legendary Wil Overton, “Christmas Hugs” isn’t just an audio delight but a visual treat as well. The artwork complements the track’s festive vibe, setting the scene for what listeners can expect. The music video, also launching alongside the single, encapsulates the cosy warmth and joy of the season, featuring the band enjoying the festive spirit in a beautifully decorated Christmas yurt.

According to our music curator team at PopHits.Co, “Chandra’s ‘Christmas Hugs’ is a masterclass in blending heartfelt festive sentiments with earworm melodies, creating a track that feels both timeless and refreshing. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of Indie Melodic Pop Rock.”
